HZ-68 vs HZ-77 Spindle Bolster: Which One Does Your Doubler Need?
Vindex technical notes · 1 Oct 2026
In the HZ bolster series, the number is the diameter in millimetres: HZ-68 is a 68 mm bolster, HZ-77 is 77 mm. Both are heavy-duty bolsters built for ring doubling and twisting machines, but they are not interchangeable — fitting the wrong diameter means a loose seat, vibration and early bearing failure.
Where the HZ-68 fits
The HZ-68 suits medium-heavy doubling work — typical ring doublers running cotton, synthetics and blends at moderate speeds. If your machine currently runs 68 mm bolsters, stay with 68 mm: the bolster housing, footstep and driving arrangement are all sized around it.
Where the HZ-77 fits
The HZ-77 is the heavier of the two, made for extra-heavy-duty doubling and twisting — jute, tire cord, nylon rope and twine, fishnet and other coarse, high-load applications. Its larger diameter carries bigger bearings and handles higher radial loads at the spindle speeds these machines run.
How to confirm before ordering
Measure the bolster diameter on the machine, check the neck bearing size, and note the machine make and model. When in doubt, send the old bolster or its markings — a five-minute check beats a wrong shipment. Vindex supplies both HZ-68 and HZ-77 spindle bolsters for ring doubling and twisting machines.
