Volkmann, Daewon & Leehwa TFO Spindle Bolsters: Choosing the Right One

Two-for-one twisters from Volkmann, Daewon and Leehwa each use their own spindle and bolster designs. The bolsters look similar on a shelf, but the dimensions, bearing arrangement and mounting differ by make — and a wrong bolster will not seat, however close it looks.

Why the machine make matters

Each manufacturer sizes the bolster to its spindle: wharve diameter, overall length, footstep design and oil capacity all follow the machine design. Ordering by “TFO bolster” alone is not enough — always order by machine make and model.

Volkmann twisters

Volkmann machines are common in high-speed synthetic twisting. Note the exact machine series when ordering — bolster specifications follow the series, and mixing series is a common source of fitment trouble.

Daewon and Leehwa twisters

Daewon and Leehwa twisters are widely used across Asian spinning and twisting mills. As with any TFO bolster, the reliable route is the machine model plus the existing bolster markings — or simply the old bolster sent as a sample.

One rule before ordering

Never assume cross-compatibility between makes. Send your machine make, model and — if possible — a photo or sample of the existing bolster, and the match can be confirmed before dispatch.
