Identify winding bearings using the full designation, interchange reference, dimensions and assembly position before requesting a quotation.

Identify the assembly before the bearing
Winding equipment contains several rotating and guiding assemblies. A bearing used at one position is not automatically suitable for another position on the same machine. Begin with the machine make, model, assembly position and existing part number. Describe the problem observed without treating that symptom as proof that a particular replacement is correct.
Read the designation in full
The Vindex Winding Bearings page lists model designations and available interchange references. Copy the complete row, including every dimension and suffix. Where the interchange column is blank, do not infer a manufacturer part number. A cross-reference is a starting point for checking the component; the assembly details and dimensions still need to agree.
Measure what determines the fit
Provide bore or shaft size, outside diameter, overall length and any shoulder, flange or mounting details shown on the original drawing. Record seals, shields and lubrication provisions where identifiable. Send photographs from both ends and the side, with the existing markings visible. Do not estimate dimensions from a photograph without a scale.
Keep service requirements separate
State the machine position, operating conditions known to the mill and whether the item is supplied separately or within a larger assembly. Avoid assigning one speed, load rating or lubrication interval to every WB designation. These requirements depend on the actual bearing execution and service conditions and should be agreed for the selected item.
Prepare the enquiry
Send the full WB designation, any original interchange code, dimensioned drawing or sample information, quantity and delivery destination. Ask for the quotation to identify the exact item and supply scope. If the original marking cannot be read, say so and provide the drawing rather than selecting the nearest-looking model.

Frequently asked questions
Which details identify a winding bearing?
Identify the winding assembly, read the full bearing designation and record the dimensions that determine the fit. Keep the original interchange reference where available.
Does a similar bearing code establish machine compatibility?
Compare the full designation, assembly dimensions and machine reference. Keep service requirements separate from a visual or code-only comparison.
