Kannur is called the land of looms and lores — and the looms came first. For centuries, the weaving streets of this north Kerala city have produced furnishing fabrics, bed spreads and made-ups that sell across the world, and behind those looms stands the spinning machinery that makes their yarn. Vindex Industries, manufacturing textile machinery spares in Surendranagar, Gujarat since 1985, supplies Kannur’s spinning units, co-operative societies and weaving ecosystem with factory-direct ring spindles, bolsters, bottom rollers, bearings and allied wear parts.
Handloom heritage and modern spinning meet in this market: co-operatives buying on plan and season, mills running multi-shift frames. Our spares serve both — machined to original dimensions, priced factory-direct, packed for the long journey south.
Kannur’s weaving tradition is among the oldest organised textile industries in India. The story begins in the 16th century, when the rulers of Chirakkal invited Saliya weaver families from Tamil Nadu to settle in weaving streets — theruvus — around the town, producing cloth for the royal household. In 1844, missionaries introduced frame looms that commercialised production, and by the 20th century the industry had reorganised into co-operative societies, the first of them established at Chirakkal in 1936.
Today Kannur is widely known as the handloom city of Kerala — some call it the Manchester of Kerala — specialising in furnishing fabrics, bed spreads, made-ups and home textiles for export. Trade accounts credit the district with the overwhelming majority of Kerala’s handloom exports, and Kannur’s fabrics — from the famous Kannur crape of the 1960s–80s boom to today’s furnishing ranges — carry a reputation for consistency that buyers in Europe, America and Japan recognise. The Azhikode handloom village and the weaving theruvus keep the craft visible; the co-operative network keeps it organised.
For a spares manufacturer, Kannur is a market where the spinning side matters most: the yarn that feeds these looms is produced on ring frames and preparatory machinery whose wear parts — spindles, bolsters, rollers, bearings, flyers — decide its quality. That is precisely our range, and we supply it factory-direct to the district’s mills and co-operative-linked units.
Manufactured in-house at Surendranagar, the following wear parts serve the spinning and preparatory machinery behind Kannur’s weaving industry.
The yarn feeding Kannur’s looms — for furnishing fabrics and made-ups where appearance is everything — has to be even and clean, and that starts with stable spindles. Our ring frame spindles are balanced for sustained high-speed running and patterned for LMW, Rieter, Zinser and Marzoli frames. Consistent spindles across the frame mean consistent yarn for the weaver.
Doubling and twisting units preparing yarn for weaving — including plied yarns for furnishing fabrics — depend on TFO twisters holding twist uniformity. Our TFO spindles cover Daewon, Leehwa, Meera, Murata/Muratec, Ratti, Veejay Lakshmi and Volkmann patterns, finished for long, steady running in warm coastal sheds.
Given Kannur’s furnishing and blanket-adjacent weaving, woolen and worsted spindles find genuine — if niche — application here for coarser counts. We manufacture them to pattern in the heavier build these yarns need. Small, made-to-sample lots are handled as routine work.
A spindle’s working life is decided at the bolster, and in coastal humidity a poorly seated spindle deteriorates fast. Our bolsters are machined with true bearing seats and consistent bores for ring frame, doubler and TFO patterns, so spindles seat correctly and run without chatter from the first fit.
Weaving yarn for export furnishing fabrics has to meet demanding evenness standards, and drafting rollers are where that quality is built. We supply spinning, drawing, comber, simplex, compact and fluted bottom rollers with accurately cut flutes and hardened working surfaces — the specification behind steady Uster readings.
Thick places from rough roller bearings become visible faults in furnishing fabric — unacceptable in export made-ups. Our bottom roller bearings are dimensional replacements for standard drafting bearings, supplied cleaned, greased and sealed for direct fitment during scheduled maintenance.
On simplex frames, pressure fingers guard roving quality at the winding point; worn fingers give hairy, uneven roving that troubles every downstream process. We manufacture pressure fingers in standard profiles — smooth-formed for snag-free running with consistent pressure across the creel.
Drive tapes and belts on spinning and twisting machinery rely on jockey pulleys for correct tension through long shifts. Ours are balanced for quiet running and surfaced to grip without damaging tapes — economical preventive replacement during planned shutdowns.
Even braking at every spindle position keeps doffing fast and cop bases clean. Our spindle brakes match LMW and equivalent ring frame patterns, with set pricing for full-frame replacement in one shutdown — the maintenance practice that actually restores uniform doffing.
Simplex flyers run fast enough that imbalance becomes vibration, roving breaks and extra piecings. Our flyers are formed for true running with smooth, roving-friendly surfaces in standard sizes, keeping the preparatory department out of the weaver’s complaints.
Kannur’s textile culture respects craft — and machined spares are a craft. Buyers here choose us because every part comes from our own works in Surendranagar, with dimensions we stand behind and a finish their fitters can see and feel. Factory-direct pricing respects the co-operative sector’s budgets without asking it to accept trader-grade quality.
Our machine coverage — Rieter, LMW, Zinser, Marzoli and Murata/Muratec patterns plus Veejay Lakshmi, with sample-matching for legacy frames — means one supplier for the full wear-parts list. For societies and mills that buy on plan and season, we schedule deliveries to match.
The journey from Gujarat to the Malabar coast is long, so we pack for it: oiled against humidity, cushioned against handling, boxed so parts arrive fit-ready. When a Kannur buyer opens our consignment, it should look like it left the factory that morning — because in every way that matters, it did.
Our range serves the spinning and preparatory machinery behind weaving: ring spindles, bolsters, bottom rollers, bearings, flyers and drive parts that produce the yarn Kannur’s looms consume. Co-operative societies and weaving units sourcing yarn from spinning mills are our natural customers here.
We supply the spinning-side wear parts that co-operatives and their yarn suppliers need. Orders are billed with GST invoice and packed export-grade, and we welcome the planned, seasonal buying that co-operatives typically follow.
Yes. Send a sample of the worn part and we machine to its dimensions — a routine service, whatever the make or vintage of your frames.
Orders leave Surendranagar the same or next working day and normally reach Kannur in four to six working days by road transport, packed against the long coastal journey.
Yes — there is no rigid minimum order. Test a trial lot on your machines first, then confirm larger volumes with confidence.
Write, call or WhatsApp with your spares list or a photo of the part. We confirm compatibility and quote factory-direct — usually the same working day.
